Jesse Chisholm, M.A.

Jesse Chisholm is a law student based in Portland, Maine. Her passion for marine science began at a very young age, having spent most of her summers exploring the rocky intertidal zones of coastal Maine. Her experiences playing in the rockweed inspired a lifelong appreciation for marine biodiversity and conservation. Jesse previously earned both a B.A. in Legal Studies and Political Science and an M.A. in Political Science from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Her professional experience spans legal research, public service, and litigation support, and she brings those skills to her role as a board member in support of BMSI's mission to conduct community-informed research and make marine science more accessible. She believes that scientific discovery should be shared beyond academia to foster curiosity and stewardship, and inspire the next generation of tide poolers. She is committed to helping protect marine ecosystems while fostering meaningful connections between research, educators, and local communities.

When she's not tide-pooling or studying, Jesse can be found reading, painting, or playing with her two cats, Ponyo and Shrimp.
